Customs intercept 404 blocks of Cannabis Sativa worth N32 million

The Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted 404 blocks of Cannabis Sativa worth N32 million in Sokoto state from the zone in the second quarter of 2021.

……Displaying the items in Sokoto and Kebbi respectively on Wednesday, the Coordinator, Comptroller of the Strike force in “Zone B”, Deputy Comptroller. Olurukoba Oseni Aliyu, said other items seized include, rice, jerry cans of vegetable oil, cartons of spaghetti and bales of second hand cloths, while others were sex enhancement drugs, new and used foot wears, NPK fertilizer, vehicles and jerry cans of petroleum.

According to him, the cannabis Sativa was highly concentrated and it was being used by bandits to cause mayhem.

“This is what the bandits are taking before raiding and killing our brothers. Our government is spending huge amount of money to resuscitate our economy but these people are sabotaging that effort,” he said

He warned smugglers to desist from their illegal businesses and support the government in its efforts to make our country better and reiterated the commitment to stamp out smuggling in the zone, saying the Comptroller General had provided the logistics to actualize this.


…While receiving the seized cannabis, the representative of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mustapha Baba-Ali commended Customs for the seizure.
