Cultists Clash In Osun, Three Persons Feared Dead
No fewer than three persons have been reported dead on Thursday in a cult clash in Ilesa, Osun State.
A source, who preferred anonymity said the clash started about five days ago between “Eiye and Aiye” cult groups and has since been resulting in the killings of the cultists by rival groups.
He said, the points where the cultists have been engaging in free for all were, Irojo, Orogba, Iroye, Anaye, Igbaye and Ikoti among others.
The clash, he said, was triggered by a reprisal attack following the killing of a member of one of the cult groups in an early clash which occurred about a month ago.
He explained, “There is palpable fear in Ilesa as we speak. I can confirm that the two groups have been dropping members of their rival groups but I can’t confirm the number of those killed.
“It started about five days ago, and nobody have been able to walk freely or sleep with their two eyes closed as a result of the clash”.
The Osun State Police Public Relations officer, Folasade Odoro confirmed the cult clash, and said only three persons were feared dead in the attacks.
According to her, the command has swung into action and restored normalcy in the town.
