Three suspects have been arrested in connection to the killing of two people in a cult clash in Akwa Ibom state.

This was disclosed by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo through the command’s spokesperson, John Timfon at a press briefing in Uyo on Friday.

According to Timfon, the command’s attention was drawn to two corpses in the state on Tuesday which were identified as Paul Eyo, a suspected member of the Neo Black Movement aka Black Axe Confraternity from Eyo Abasi community in Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, who she said died as a result of machete cuts on his head.

She also identified the second deceased person simply as Ekpe also from Eyo Abasi, a suspected member of Supreme Vikings Confraternity who she saidvwas beheaded by rival gang members.

According to her, “Three suspects, including Mfon Uzoma, Robert Etim, and Malachi Ubokulo, were arrested in a ravine in Abiak Owo Ebughu in Mbo Local Government Area. The area, particularly Ebughu, has become a den for cultists and kidnappers.

____Five months ago, gunmen stormed the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of Mbo Local Government Area in Ebughu and kidnapped the traditional ruler, Okon Abang.”

Crime world magazine online had earlier in July 2024 reported how gunmen in the area abducted a naval operative and seven others in the coastal communities.

____Kidnapping for ransom has also become a regular occurrence in the area, which has led to the deployment of an army battalion to the area.

The police listed items recovered from the suspects as Face caps with Viking’s insignia, a 14-inch television, camp gas, an amplifier, a mattress, pillows, a plastic table and a chair, and four motorcycles.
