COVID-19: Osun begins Mass Vaccination

The Osun State Government on Tuesday, November 19, started vaccinating residents over the age of 18 to curb the spread of the disease in the state.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, who launched the exercise in Osogbo, directed residents of the area to either be vaccinated or not yet vaccinated to take advantage of this opportunity.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Benedict Alabi, also said that state health workers, as well as Adhoc staff, had undergone special training so, adding that the vaccine would be available in the affected areas. regulated in primary, secondary and secondary major health centers.

According to him, Vaccines will also be available in outreach areas outside health facilities and specialized areas including; churches, mosques, markets and shops.

He said, “I am pleased to announce that about 2 million COVID-19 vaccines have been allocated to the state and all those who have not yet been vaccinated are now able to be vaccinated.

With a total population of over five million, and almost 50% of this presence in the 18-year-old age group, most of the target population has not yet been vaccinated.

I therefore call on all people in Osun State who are 18 years of age or older who are either partially vaccinated or have not been vaccinated to take advantage of this opportunity. ”

In his remarks, the state coordinator of the World Health Organization, Dr. Bello Ahmed, said Osun was receiving support from the organization because of its commitment to better health and employment across the state.
