Court Remands UNILORIN Student who Assaulted Lecturer
An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court remanded Salaudeen Waliu Aanuoluwa, a 400-level microbiology student at the Ilorin Correctional Service Center, for allegedly beating a teacher, Ms. Rahmat Zakariyat.
The police report revealed that the suspect used hard drugs before going to the lecturer’s office, which is his SIWES industrial training coordinator.
According to the first information report, FIR, the suspect hit the teacher’s table, shouting that the lecturer should give him a grade for the industrial program he did not attend.
Waliu allegedly punched the lecturer when she rejected the request and beat her to a stupor, breaking the window glass, trying to use the pieces to stab her.
The police report added that the lecturer crying for help caught the attention of security officers who rushed to the scene and saved her from Waliu’s net.
Trial magistrate Muhammed Ibrahim, who presided over the case, ordered Waliu’s pre-trial detention, while the case was adjourned to the 26th of this month.
