Community protest as road accident claims one life

The people of Idofian community have appealed to the Kwara state government and other stakeholders to assist in raising speed breakers to avert the incessant death recorded due to overspeeding on their highway by motorists.

The appealed was made in the instance of another death recorded on the Idofian express way yesterday’s evening due to the overspeeding that led to the untimely death of a 13-year-old girl, ELIZABETH ADIGUN and which subsequently led to a peaceful protest and mounted roadblocks by the Idofian youths in solidarity of the last born of the Adigun family of their community.

The youth leader, and Community Secretary, Honourable JIMOH KAMALDEEN ABOLARIN, who spoke to newsmen in Idofian, lamented this recurrent incident in their community and called on the state government and relevant authorities to intervene.


Also speaking, the Iyaloja of Idofian, Alhaja AMINAT AMINULLAHI, who corroborated the narrative of the youth leader to our correspondent, and told of him of the intervention of the community leaders in ensuring the road was opened, called for the urgent intervention of the government in erecting speed bumps on their highway to prevent future occurrences.
