As reported by Akure Parrot, trouble triggered the traditional institution of Akure by the appointment of Boboye Ojo by Oba Ogunlade as the new Olu of Eleyowo in Akure North local government as ome chiefs and community heads in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, rebelled against the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade.

Reports revealed that some community heads are claiming that the monarch only has jurisdiction in Akure South Local Government and not in Akure North, while one of the chiefs, Olomi Adesina Agunbiade, protested, insisting that he is the recognised traditional head of Eleyowo base on his appointment as Olu of Eleyowo by the Oloba of Obaile.

It was contained in a letter signed by Agunbiade’s lawyer, Mr Femi Emodamori, that he is a descendant of the Oloba of Obaile, the founder of Eleyowo community, claiming that Deji of Akure has no historical or traditional link with the community.

Agunbiade was replying a letter by the Deji of Akure signed by his Solicitors, B.D Asani & Associates, asking Chief Agunbiade to stop parading himself as Olu of Eleyowo because the king has appointed one Boboye Ojo as the new Olu of Eleyowo.

In his reply, Agunbiade described the letter as provocative and illegal as no court or tradition gives the Akure monarch powers to make such appointment.

Chief Agunbiade’s letter reads in part, “For the avoidance of doubt however, our client (Chief Agunbiade) is the legitimate Olu of Eleyowo, appointed by the legitimate prescribed authority, and duly recognized by the legitimate constituted authorities in Ondo State.

“He would therefore continue to parade himself as such, and would not be deterred by the empty threats of your client in the letter under reference.”

As at press time, spokesman of the Akure Monarch, Micheal Adeyeye, said he would respond with an official statement.
