Cherubim/Seraphim Prophet, Solomon Opaalade Gets 4 years, five Months Jail Term For Stealing Turkeys, Goat in Osogbo

A popular Pastor of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church located at Baruwa Estate, Governors office area, Osogbo, the Osun State Capital, Prophet Solomon Opaalade has been sentenced to four years and five months imprisonment for stealing goat and turkey.

In addition, the cleric was also charged for threatening one Oluwasegun Hammed with charms, after stealing his goat.

Mr Adekunle Adeniyi, who is the Principal State Counsel from Ministry of Justice in Osun state, alleged that the accused stole the goat and nine turkeys belonging to the complainant.

According to the prosecution, the goat was valued N18,000.

The victim, Opaalade, had pleaded not guilty to the allegations of stealing,  breach of peace and threat to life and force entry leveled against him by the police before the prosecution proved his guilt to the court.

Five different witnesses was called by the prosecutor which include; Oluwasegun Hammed, Shittu Tokunbo, Pastor Stephen Oyeyemi, Olayinka Bayowa and the Investigative Police Officer of the case, Cletus Monjok. Two turkeys, charms and statement of the convict were tendered as exhibits.

During his evidence in chief, the first prosecution witness stated that when he informed the convict that he had told the community about the theft of his he-goat, the convict returned the following day fully dressed in charms and other fetish objects and threatened to deal with him for exposing him.


In her judgement, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Adijat Oloyede, sentenced the convict to 18 months imprisonment on each of the three counts with an option of N10,000 each.
