President Buhari expressed sorrow over the death of Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu and three soldiers killed in a clash with ISWAP members in Borno State on Thursday evening, November 13, 2021.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, President Buhari said he sent his condolences to the chief of staff as well as to the families of the deceased servicemen.
His statement reads;
“I am extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu and three soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice, in a very rare display of bravery, as they attempted to help their compatriots in the war against the terrorists.
Nigeria has lost brave soldiers. I salute their courage. May their souls rest in peace. General Zirkusu leaves us sad and devastated. The soldier in him will remain immortal.
I asked the army chief of staff to accept my sincere condolences and those of the nation, and to pass them on to the members of the families of the martyrs.
I pray the Almighty to give the Armed Forces and bereaved families the strength and courage to endure this irreparable loss. “
