President Muhammadu Buhari has left Paris, France for Durban, South Africa, to attend the 20th International Economic Forum (IATF) 2021 to be held on Monday.

Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina, who confirmed the president’s visit to South Africa, said he would join other African leaders at the opening ceremony of the IATF 2021 summit at the special invitation of President Cyril Ramaphosa. him.

According to Adesina, Buhari will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar and Executive Director / Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Agency, Segun Awolowo.

He said the meeting, to be held from November 15 to November 21, was organized by the African Import Bank (AFREXIM) in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the Secretary of the Free Trade Area of ​​the continent. The conference is hosted by Africa (AfCFTA).

He said the theme of the exhibition, Building a Success for AfCFTA Success, was to promote trade and investment in Africa.

It also promises to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive across the African continent; provide positive insights into the creation of AfCFTA by providing a platform to further identify and provide solutions to the challenges of trade between Africa and; provide the market data needed to connect buyers and sellers across the continent.

“Global trade, including non-African stamps, is expected to take advantage of the exhibition’s potential, attracting trade and investment to the continent worth $ 40 billion.” She added that various Nigerian investors had already arrived in Durban to benefit from the event.


The presidential spokesman said President Buhari was expected to return to Nigeria on Tuesday, November 16.
