At Last, Facts About Location Of Fedral College of Education as Revealed By the Presidency

Since the news about sitting the proposed Federal College of Education to a particular town broke on Wednesday, 19th February, 2020 OsunReporters had started digging into the matter.

According to a source in the Federal Ministry of Education who told OSUNREPORTERS during a telephone conversation confirmed that the Honourable Minister of Education, Mr Adamu Adamu has stated that the proposed FCE across the six geopolitical zones of the federation have been sited to six different particular states where locations within those states already suggested.

The source further revealed that the bill for the establishment of the Federal College of Education has being passed into law but yet to see approval of the presidency.

Our findings from another source at the presidency have shown that not until the final approval by President Buhari, no one can be affirmatively assured of the final community that will host those federal colleges.

The source, who anonymously hinted OsunReporters Correspondent because she was not authorized to talk on the matter confirmed that despite all forces from different quarters to influence the location of the school, the president is yet to sign it into law, adding that Iwo town in Osun State may likely be the host community if not changed at the last minute before the final approval.

“You know we are in Nigeria where anything can happen even when you think nothing can happen again. Between me and you, if other mightier hand did not come again, Iwo local government is currently on the list but President is yet to sign it,” the source said.

When asked the affected towns that may likely effect the changes, the source rhetorically responded.

Recall that the federal government has declared its intent to establish six more colleges of education to further boost production of teachers for Nigerian schools.

On social media, it is rumoured that the federal government has approved Iwo in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State. The state is one of the six states the federal government has decided to locate the schools.

While other towns like Ikirun, Ila-Orangun, Gbongan, Osogbo, Ilobu, Iwo, Iragbiji have been at the forefront in the agitation to host the school. However, the federal government is yet to finally unveil the host community for any of the six proposed schools.
