Angry youths beat up policeman for allegedly attacking a farmer in Osun
An outbreak of the disease took place on Wednesday in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, when a police officer was involved in an accident that left a farmer’s leg broken.
It is learned that the incident took place in Owo Eba area of Osogbo. According to reports, some residents, outraged by the police action, said they went down to a police officer who was found at the scene, where they beat him, leaving him paralyzed. blood.
It is learned that the incident, which caused panic in the area, forced several companies to close suddenly for the day, while some angry people attacked the policeman.
However, some police officers and members of the Osun Security Network, also known as the Amotekun corps, dispatched the rescue, while the police escaped through various means to escape. from arresting them.
According to a resident who did not want to be named, a farmer Hamzat Kazeem who was said to be riding a motorcycle with his son was attacked by a police officer, which led to the violence.
Speaking on his bed at an orthopedic clinic in Osogbo, Kazeem, who broke one of his legs during the accident, said the mistaken police officer thought he and his son wanted to escape being examined. They were suddenly attacked in Owo Eba. On their way to the farm, they started wrestling with his son who was riding a motorcycle.
“I am a farmer and I sell timber. I was on my way to the farm on a motorcycle driven by my son. Muna approaches Owo eba. I’d like to see a welder in the area. Some policemen were a few meters away watching us.
“Maybe they feel we have seen them and want to avoid them. We turned around to see the warden, only a policeman came up to us and showed us a gun. The boy was so frightened that the policeman did not stop, he was struggling to hold the motorcycle with my child and the motorcycle lost its balance.
“We all fell and broke my leg and I could not stand it. I immediately grabbed him because he wanted to run. He begged me to let him go. He even promised to pay for my treatment. I was taken here by some police colleagues who were involved in the accident. Some policemen also came and talked to me, ”he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commander of the Armed Forces, Osun Amotekun Corps, Amitolu Shittu, confirmed that more officers had been deployed to the area to prevent law and order.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, who was contacted, promised to conduct an investigation and response but as of the time of compiling this report, now she has not done so.
