The Nigeria army, has reportedly issued a fresh notice to occupants of shop spaces, land and buildings from the controversial 3,646 Acres of land allegedly taken over from Kelebe-Omu Landowners Associations for more than four decades.

In what could best be described as a ‘sharp u-turn’ by the Nigerian Army over the lingering 3,646 Acres of land debacle between both parties, OsunReporters News exclusively gathered that an urgent quit notice has been issued to all occupants on the already leased or rented out lands in what is believed to be a quick attempt to back tracking on the said land which has been a subject of litigation for over four decades.

You will recall that, OsunReporters News recently made public the genesis of the age long land dispute involving the Nigeria army and the Kelebe-Omu landowners Association comprises of Osogbo, Olorunda, Obokun and Ifelodun Local Governments of Osun state with the headline “ALERT! How Nigerian Army Allegedly Acquire, Sell 3,646 Acres Of Land In Osun Through ‘Backdoor’ For Personal Use; Osogbo, Boripe, Obokun As Case Study”.

Shortly after the news went viral, our correspondent received several calls and feedbacks from the parties involved in the matter especially from the Nigerian Army Public Relations Office in Abuja, with assurances of their readiness to provide all the needed information to back up the occupation of the Army on the land in question and as well to affirm the legitimacy of all the activities of the army on the 3,646 expanse of land.

Completed & uncompleted residential building

Searching further, OsunReporters served the Nigerian Army, Ede barrack a letter of request to grant an interview over this matter. As at the time of filing this report, no official response has been made from the Nigerian Army.

Both offices, residential, shops structures

While we await the other side of this narratives by the Nigerian Army, there are pictorial evidences of both past and recent activities where hundreds of shops, offices and residential buildings were erected on the said land.

Investigation revealed that many of the occupants of the disputed land were living in fear because of the intimidation that may arise from their disputed landlord, this is why those who spoke with the OsunReporters News claimed anonymity on the quit notices earlier circulated to tenants/occupants of the said land.

As a matter of public interest, justice and fairness, the authority of Nigerian Army and Federal Government of Nigeria must urgently look into this matter to prevent it from escalating to physical confrontation between civilians and Army because this matter has gone beyond what can be swept under the carpet, Also, a case of this magnitude can go a long way in reaffirming the hope of the numerous owners of the said land, and average Nigerians in the government of the day as truly a government of the people.

Importantly, OsunReporters News shall continue to inform and update the public on the alleged illegal occupation on the said land as event unfolds.
