After Soun, Makinde Approves New Monarch For Popular Town In Oyo

,,,,Barely Few hours after the new Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Laoye made his first official public appearance, Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, approved the appointment of Prince Sefiu Olawale Oyebola as the new Aseyin of Iseyin.

The Governor’s approval was contained in a press statement by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Honourable Olusegun Olayiwola, and made available to journalists by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Pastor Sulaimon Olanrewaju on Thursday.

,,,,,,,The Governor noted in the statement that the move was in consonance with his powers as the Executive Governor of the state as enshrined in subsections 1 and 2 of the Chiefs’ Law, Cap. 28, Volume I, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

Recall that Ogbomoso in Oyo State was electrified with joy on Thursday as eminent personalities and thousands of indigenes welcomed the newly installed Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, after he made his first official public appearance after a seven-day seclusion.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Honourable Olusegun Olayiwola, the approval is a culmination of a series of processes stipulated by the extant laws of the state regarding ascension to royal thrones.

The statement added that the governor congratulated the…..new Aseyin-Elect, praying that his tenure will usher in greater developments to Iseyin.

It is recalled that the governor is due to receive former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the state, on Friday, to commission the 34.85 kilometres Oyo-Iseyin Road and the newly-constructed LAUTECH College of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources, Iseyin.


,,,,Recall that late Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdul-Ganiyu Adekunle Salawudeen passed on in 2022 to join his ancestors following a protected illness, and eaving the stool vacant until the emergence of the new monarch.
