Adamawa Guber: All INEC calls emergency meeting, as Binani approaches court

After the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa Ari, announced Aisha Binani of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the Adamawa governorship election on Sunday while collation was ongoing, all National Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are presently in a closed-door meeting at the commission’s national headquarters in Abuja.

Ari had caused a major uproar after he announced Aisha Binani of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the Adamawa governorship election on Sunday while collation was ongoing.

Before the collation exercise was suspended on Saturday, results from 10 local government areas had been announced and Binani was trailing the incumbent governor and the PDP candidate, Ahmadu Fintiri.

However, INEC swiftly denounced the purported declaration and suspended the collation of results of the supplementary election.

The electoral umpire further summoned the REC to Abuja with immediate effect and eventually suspended him.
