Abducted Wife, Daughter Of Slain Kwara Monarch, Regain Freedom

After days in captivity, Olori Iyabo Aremu, the abducted wife of the slain Olukoro of Koro Ekiti in Kwara State, General Segun Aremu-Cole (retd) and two others have regained their freedom.

Olori, her adopted daughter, Feranmi and one other victim were released on Monday night, February 5, 2024 and arrived Koro town around 10:45pm.

“The news just received from home confirms that Olori and the girl have been released and have returned to Koro about 30 minutes ago,” the Asiwaju of Koro, Chief Samuel Ayobola, told newsmen.

…….Also, the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) chairman of the council, Chief Kayode Kehinde Bayode, who also confirmed the development to the Daily Trust around past 12:00 am on Tuesday said the police will give further details

The monarch was killed by the kidnappers on February 1, 2024.


It could be recalled that the gunmen were said to have stormed the palace at about 9 pm and after killing the monarch, they whisking away his wife, her adopted daughter and one other. The abductors demanded a N100 million ransom, which was later reduced to N40 million.
