Minimum Wage: NYSC DG confirms monthly allowance increase
Months after the approval of N70,000 new minimum wage for Nigerian workers, the Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, has announced that corps members will soon receive an increased monthly allowance of N77,000.
The confirmation was made in Abuja during the commissioning of a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance Company where Ahmed assured attendees that all arrangements for the new allowance had been finalised.
According to him, “This increase in allowance reflects our commitment to the welfare of corps members.”
NYSC DG further explained that the organisation prioritises their security and well-being, adding that the allowance adjustment aligns with the implementation of the new national minimum wage signed into law by President Bola Tinubu in July 2024.

The announcement marks a significant improvement and demonstrates the NYSC’s dedication to supporting its members.
Recall that currently, corps members receive a monthly allowance of N33,000.
The newly commissioned staff bus, donated by Capital Express Insurance Company, is expected to alleviate transportation challenges faced by NYSC staff.
Ahmed expressed gratitude for the generous contribution.
Corps members across the country have welcomed the news of the allowance increase, viewing it as a step towards better recognition of their contributions to national development.
