Protocol….
Distinguished colleagues and esteemed members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm, ladies and gentlemen.
Today, I stand before you to officially declare open the Second Edition Of the Osun Digital Media Week 2024, with the theme; “Impact Of Artificial Intelligence (A1) On Digital Media In The 21st Century”.
I was privileged to have chaired the planning committee for the 2023 edition of the OOPA Media Week with remarkable success, and with this year’s edition as the Chairman of the association, it shall end in praise.
First and foremost, I express my profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for sparing our lives to witness this great period, “Olorun lo ni ori bee”.
My appreciation goes to this great family. As Journalists, we are the guardians of truth, the voice of the Voiceless, and the watchdogs of the society. But how can we effectively carry out this noble duty if our well-being is neglected, hence the agenda of the association to strengthen the members with the capacity training on the new technology now in vogue worldwide-The AI.
When I think about the Gentlemen in this gathering that are committed to the ideals that we are committed to, I have to say thank you all for your up-to-date cooperation most especially the executive member who key into the TEAM WORK AGENDA of this administration; and to our 2024 Osun Digital Media Week Committee, the Chairman Mr Adesoji Omosebi and his team, I am proud of you, thank you, we love you.
To all our sponsors and partners that made today a relief and history; representative of the Osun state government; our Patron and Royal Father of the day HRM Oba Hameed Adekunle Makama the Olowu of Kuta kingdom; Osun CSDA boss Mrs Funmi Abokede; Osun Amotekun Boss Dr Omoyele; Fresh FM Osogbo; and one of our founding members, Mrs Aminat Ajibola Alake CEO of Amiloaded Media Hub, I specially appreciate you all for standing by us.
I must also appreciate my lovely wife for allowing and managing a journalist like me as an husband, and for supporting me in the journey of leading this association.
Over the past Eight (8) months that I have been in the saddle of leadership of this great association, we have recorded some notable successes such as;
• Improved Members Welfare by securing advertisement partnerships for all members.
• Increase In Membership Strength by absolving new members in line with the constitution of the association.
• Training of Members in capacity building on digital media
• Securing a secretariat for the association, official state secretariat of the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) is located at Ajegunle Area Olonkooro Road, Osogbo
• Opening of the association Bank Account for transparency and accountability
• Strengthening the relationship between us and our sister-bodies in the media within Osun State, among other efforts to move this association forward.
I have a great confidence and hope that this administration under my watch will continue to work closely with stakeholders to achieve more success; and also to write the goodwill of our dear association’s history in a golden book – filled with unity, progress, and purpose.
To our invited guests, today’s speaker and award recipients, I thank you for honouring our invitation and I congratulate you for being honoured today. Your recognition will motivate you and others to do more.
Our mission is to strengthen the digital media space in Osun by differentiate this profession from other social media handlers through professionalism. This can be realised by the professional conducts of all qualified members of OOPA and collaborative support between the practionals, corporate bodies, agencies, individuals and government at all levels by providing good environment for trainings/workshops/seminars, providing an accessible grants for our members. This, I believe will go a long way in improving our capacity which will enhance our roles in the society. We also want to have OOPA state secretariat built by the association soon, and I believe we can achieve it with the support.
Conclusively, it is a known fact that the future of journalism is ‘digital media’, hence Osun Onnline Publishers Association (OOPA) mode of operation is 100% digitalised. This simply means we are the future of journalism and the future is now!
Once again, I thank you all.
Thank you, and God bless.
