Brokers Week: NCRIB (WAC) visits Secondary School on career talk to ‘catch them young’ in Osun

As part of the activities marking 2024 Brokers Week, the Western Area Committee of Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has embarked on a career sensitization in Osun State Secondary schools.

The Chairman of NCRIB Western Area Committee, Mr Gafar Oladele Alamu led other members of the council on a visitation to Osogbo Grammar School, Osogbo the Osun State capital on Thursday November 28th 2024, to sensitize pupils on a mission to catch them young.

In his address, Gafar highlights the roles of insurance Brokers in the insurance industry as an advise and motivation to students in the commercial class to choose insurance as their career/profession after.

According to him, “Due to the rate of unemployment in the country, the issue of where to work after graduation has become a serious problem plaguing the mind of our youths. The insurance industry can provide a life fulfilling career opportunity in its various arm of operation.

“Graduates of insurance could work in any of the following places:
1. Insurance companies
2. Insurance Broking firms
3. Loss adjusting firms
4. Marine surveying firms
5. Risk surveying firms
6. Insurance Departments of multinational companies
7. Insurance Departments of manufacturing companies
8. Insurance Trade associations
9. Insurance regulatory body
10. Ministries and Parastatals
11. Banks and Mortgage Institution
12. Lecturing in insurance and other financial subjects departments in tertiary institutions.

“Apart from the academic study of insurance in tertiary institutions, to become a professional, exams sre organized by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN).”

The AbdulGafar led leadership of NCRIB Western Area Committee also distributed branded exercise books to the students in attendance.

However, the Chairman added that the team will also visit Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 to catch them young.
