Osun 2026: APC, Adeleke Lock Horns Over Alleged Plot to Bomb INEC Office, Kill Officials
Ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State and Governor Ademola Adeleke have exchanged accusations over an alleged plan to bomb the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office and kill top officials during the 2026 governorship election.
Earlier, leadership of the APC alleged that Governor Adeleke was involved in a viral video where an individual advised the governor and members of the ruling party to bomb the INEC collation center if there were signs of election rigging.
According to a statement, APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, criticized Adeleke for not condemning the video, which reportedly contained threats of violence. He suggested that the governor’s silence indicated desperation and complicity regarding the upcoming election.
Olabisi said, “The video showed a PDP chieftain recommending the bombing of INEC’s Osun office if the 2026 election outcome didn’t favor the ruling party. He referenced the 2020 Edo State governorship election, implying a similar violent approach could be used in Osun.”
____The APC further claimed that the video’s speaker encouraged deploying bomb-laden helicopters from Delta State to target the INEC office, potentially killing around 200 people, including high-ranking officials like the Resident Electoral Commissioner and police officers.
Olabisi questioned why, nearly a week after the video went viral, neither Governor Adeleke nor the PDP had condemned the message, suggesting their involvement in the alleged plot. He called on Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to investigate the matter and bring those responsible to justice.
,,,,___Whole responding, Governor Adeleke threatened to sue Olabisi for N5 billion over the “defamatory” statements. Through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke described the allegations as baseless and demanded a retraction.
“The governor has directed his lawyers to review the claims and pursue a legal case if the APC director fails to retract the false accusations,” Rasheed said. “Governor Adeleke has never and will never be involved in any plot against INEC or its officials.”
,,,,Adeleke’s team emphasized that if the allegations are not withdrawn, legal action for damages will be initiated against Olabisi.
