“Boko Haram planning to gain access planned nationwide protest” – Police
Ahead of the forthcoming #EndBadGovernance protest in August 1st, the police command in Yobe state has said the Boko Haram insurgents have planned to infiltrate the protest.
While confirming the report, the command’s spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, nothing that intelligence received by the command indicated that foreign mercenaries were engaged to destroy lives and property at the protest.
Mr Abdulkarim, therefore, called on the intending protesters to exercise caution.
Accorsing to him: “As Yobe state recovers from insurgency, the commissioner of police, CP Garba Ahmed, acknowledges citizens’ constitutional rights to peaceful assembly.
