DStv, Gotv reduce subscription fee after losing subscribers
MultiChoice, owner of the cable tv (DStv & GOtv), has reportedly returned to its previous subscription prices after a court order deemed its recent price hikes unjustified.
It should be recalled that cable network (multichoice) had increased subscription prices in response to high inflation and the devaluation of the naira in Nigeria.
Court had also ruled against this increase, prompting the company to lower its prices back to the original rates.
According to reports, the price hike had a significant impact on MultiChoice’s subscriber base in Nigeria, with over a million subscribers lost due to the higher costs.
The revised prices are as follows:👇
_DStv Premium package: N29,500 (down from N37,000)
_DStv Compact+ package: N19,800 (down from N25,000)
_DStv Compact Bouquet: N12,500 (down from N15,700)
_DStv Confam package: N7,400 (down from N9,300)
_DStv Yanga package: N4,200 (down from N5,100)
_DStv Padi package: N2,950 (down from N3,600)
GOtv subscribers will also benefit from reduced prices:
_GOtv Super+ package: N12,500 (down from N15,700)
_GOtv Super package: N7,600 (down from N9,600)
_GOtv Max package: N5,700
_GOtv Joli package: N3,950
_GOtv Jinja package: N2,700 (down from N3,300)
It remains uncertain whether MultiChoice will comply with the court’s directive to offer a month-free subscription to affected customers.
