Varsity student beats course mates to death over N30k bribe
It was a tragic scene when a 300-level medical student of the University of Jos (Unijos), Abdulsalam Idris, died after allegedly sustaining severe injuries following an assault by a group allegedly led by a fellow student identified as Fisal Dahiru Ibrahim.
Reports revealed that, the student died in the institution’s clinic on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
While confirming the ugly incident, Unijos’ security unit said the corpse had been transferred to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for autopsy.
Accordind to the acting Chief Security Officer of Unijos, Agama Solomon, the suspect claimed to have given Abdulsalam N30,000 to bribe a technician for exam grades but that when the results were released and the suspect failed he reportedly orchestrated an attack that led to Abdulsalam’s death, nothing that the suspect had been apprehended and handed over to the police.

The death of Abdulsalam sparked concerns among his peers, who believed that such a violent outcome was unjustified and that he did not deserve to be treated in a manner that led to his death.
