Six police officers, two hook-up girls killed in Abakaliki

It was a tragic scene for those who witnessed the killing of six police officers and two hook-up girls in the early morning of Friday by suspected gunmen in Abakaliki the Ebonyi state capital.

According to reports, the incident occured at about 5.30 am in the morning at Hilltop check-point in the city.

A resident of a Gas station (close to the scene of the incident) who preferred anonymity, disclosed that the gunmen on sighting the officers opened fire on them.

Efforts made to get the reaction of the State Police Public Relations Officer Joshua Ukandu proved abortive, as he refused to pick several telephone calls placed to him.
