Osun West Senator Commission Roads, Empowers Constituents
The Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District cum Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Akogun Lere Oyewumi today commissioned newly constructed roads in Iwo town and empowered hundreds of his constituents with vocation tools and other items. The event which was held in Iwo town hall saw materials including sewing machines, wheel chair and over 15 million cash grants for the capacity building training participants.
The empowerment program is in continuation of his commitment to delivering dividends of effective democratic and purposeful representation to his constituents. The empowerment projects are; Training And Empowerment Of Youth And Women In Mining Of Solid Minerals, Distribution Of Strategic Empowerment Program anchored by Mining Cadastre Office and Small And Medium Enterprise Development Agency (SMEDAN) respectively.
The lawmaker earlier paid a courtesy visit to Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwoland, where he extolled the paramount traditional ruler for his commitment to national peace and community development. “We are here to show our appreciation for your wonderful leadership in Iwo and commitment to national stability. You are a father-figure to us and we are proud of the support you have been showing the current administration both at the State and National Assembly members, Akogun noted.
Commissioning the two roads located at Oriolowo/Agbele Compound and Adediti/Paku in Iwo, the Oluwo Iwoland stated that he was overwhelmed by the sterling performance of Senator Oyewumi and encouraged him to continue to work hard to foster development that would serve the interest of his constituents.
While addressing the gathering Akogun Lere Oyewumi noted that the aim of empowering our people is borne out of the dire state of the economy and the attendant strain and the need for the people to be able to fend for themselves without recourse to begging or waiting on the government and political office holders for handouts. It is also to make our people to be self-reliant and encourage productivity which will contribute to the growth of National Gross Domestic Products while the effort will also allow for development both in capital and human resources.
The Osun State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Prince Kola Adewusi who saluted the doggedness of the Senator Oyewumi for ensuring that his people benefit from the dividends of good governance which the Peoples Democratic Party stands for. Prince Kola Adewusi appealed to the people of Osun state not to waver in their support for His Excellency, Ademola Adeleke administration in the state, noting that the leadership is committed to improving its welfare and social support scheme.
The member representing Iwo/Ayedire/Ola Oluwa Federal Constituency, Hon. Mudashir L&K equally commended Senator Lere Oyewumi for the empowerment program, his personal contribution and sacrifice geared towards fulfilling his electoral promise of putting the people first and complementing efforts of the state government and National Assembly members in providing timely and adequate support to the people.
Senator Lere Oyewumi however restated his readiness and dedication to deliver more on his electoral promise in Osun west senatorial district through a purposeful representation, while equitably ensuring that all sectors in the senatorial district were well represented in the provision of life-enriching interventions and policies to make life more prosperous and abundant.
