Ido-Osun Youth Forum Calls Adeleke’s Govt To Order Over Proper Address Of Airport

Press Statement delivered by Ido-osun Youth Forum (IYF) to avert unnecessary communal clash being aucestrated by Osun state Government handlers of Adeleke International Airport, Ido-Osun,Egbedore LGA, Osun state.

Gentlemen of the Press,

This press statement is to call the attention of the Osun state government to the recent high handedness of some elements in the government in their act of abuse of office privileges to cause unnecessary crisis and breach of peace in Ido-osun and Osun state at large by deliberately tarting the governments of Ademola Adeleke goodwill intention of revamping the osun state Airport project.

It should be noted that from the formation of the Airport committee that an error of interest was made in the appointment by deliberately exempting any indigene of Ido-osun to serve in such a committee knowing fully well that the Airport is in Ido-osun and was and never will be jointly hosted.

As a kingdom, we refused to preempt any foul play in the appointment of the Airport committee chairman in person of Hon. BT salam believing that he will be matured enough to understand that governance and government of a state is far above ethnical,communal or religious affiliation, but rather a call to service to the whole state and humanity as such he will trend the part on the noble by placing his name in the diary of honorables as such we sat back and watch with keen interest while events unfold. On the inception of their activity, they (the committee) paid a visit to the Airport site for assessment without making a stop at the Layered of Ido-Osun palace which is the first erroric step of this committee as our culture entails but we never made any comment on this because we believe the project execution and completion is most important to the whole sons and daughters of ido-osun and Osun state at large, make no mistake we are no fools we are only committed to peace of the state and success of the project. This entities in government immediately changed many of the airport project document to appear Ido-Osun, Ede North/Egbedore LGA what other criminal ways of abuse of power and government privileges is more than this?
Also some career officers in the ministry of land and works immediately to create fake documentation to seed some portion of Ido-Osun land to Ede north with the hope and believe that they could bury Ido-Osun as the project continues and you think the government handlers are not responsible for staring the peaceful atmosphere of the state into chaos.

We are calling the DSS to immediately investigate this accusations and make the report public and to the Governor for immediate action as no government entity will use Ido-Osun Airport project to push us into the Ifon-Ilobu situation, but it should be noted that when tyranny becomes a norm, defence becomes a duty.

We have on several media publications and radio adverts as well as other media platforms appreciated the governor and we will continue to appreciate him for his show of commitment towards a more vibrant Osun state and towards the construction and completion of the Airport that have been laying helpless since 1936. Setting the record straight. Ido-Osun where the airport is located have been in existence for over 1000 years and have experienced different political escapes from time immemorial and have always been a sovereign kingdom.

The said airport was established during the pre independent era and since then till now there have never been any issue about the location of the local government.

Its important for all indigenes of Osun to know that at inception of this Airport in 1936 the western region was operating the district style of government and as such Ido-osun, Osogbo, Ede, Awo and many others were made to be under the same district which was Osogbo district office from Ibadan then.

As time passbye, more district was created and at that point, Ede and district was created which Ido-osun was also part of the Ede district at that time. Then Local government regime which we now operate, Ede north LGA was created which many towns in the Osun west senatorial district was a member of until Egbedore LGA was created where Ido-Osun, Awo,Ara and Iragberi were the major towns.

At no point in these metamorphoric periods was the Airport co-hosted by any other town or LGA and all Osun state government from time of creation have respected this establishment till date. Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola who named the Airport as MKO Abiola International Airport, Ido-Osun gave his available best, as well as governor Aregbesola who pushed this project to a point, so did GOv. Gboyega Oyetola who ensure the commencement of the Nigerian Airforce Research and Development Center takes off there with a tremendous effort in establishing Ido-Osun Aviation City on this same Airport Corridor a project we hope with effective synergy sees the light of the day never caused unecessary security challenges in this regards.

Even our current beloved governor on the date of announcing his commitment to constructing and completing this airport project made it explicitly clear that Isiaka Adeleke International Airport, Ido-osun, EGBEDORE LGA will be done and dusted and at no point of his speech did he mentioned that Ido-Osun is in EDE NORTH/ EGBEDORE LGA we encourage the governor to stick his legs on the path of nobility. so we are calling on all government agents in different agencies and ministries to order and understand that governance and government job is not a child’s play and must be taken seriously by avoiding any kindergarten ventures that could cause any threat to the peace we enjoy in Osun state. We are calling on the governor that as the host community of the Isiaka Adeleke International Airport, we immediately request the following:

Immediate sack of the Airport committe chairman Hon. Bashiru Tokunbo Salam on ground of abuse of privileges.

Inclusion of Ido-osun indigene who is not a politician as member of the Airport committee

That the local content act of every project as enshrined in the constitution be respect.

That The Osun state government official website where the evil misrepresentation of Ido-Osun where the Airport is located reads EDE NORTH/EGBEDORE LGA should be moderately corrected as no part of Ido-Osun belongs to EDE North LGA and no part of the Airport also belong to Ede North LGA.

Immediate investigation and dismissal of Career officers including the PS who allows their offices to be used for illegal activities that could disrupt the security and peace of the state.

We use this medium to call on all federal, state and international agencies, as well as media outlets and NGOs to please kindly disregard any publication or documents in your coffers that reads any international Airport Ido-Osun, Ede North/Egbedore Local Government Area. The correct location of the Airport in Osun state is Ido-Osun, Egbedore LGA, Osun state.

To our own Governor of Osun, may the light you have brought to illuminate Osun state never quench unfulfilled, for point of clarity, let no government agent or kitchen cabinet make or interprete this press statement to the governor as an attack on the governor or government. Your excellency we know the hypocrisy that runs in the coffers of governance, we are very clear on our 5 point demands and not in anyway antagonistic to the success of this project or progress you are making in developing Osun state. we pray the good lord use you to complete the age long sleeping project your excellency.
