UCAKPOD Eyes 500,000 Votes For Tinubu, Abdulrazaq, Others In Kwara

Ahead of the 2023 general election, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had his chances of winning the upcoming gubernatorial election in Kwara state enhanced following the development recorded on Wednesday.

A group, the United Caucus of All Kwara Political Decampees (UCAKPOD), announced readiness to energize ongoing campaign efforts by embarking on ‘win your street’ campaign.

The group in a statement made available to Accuratenews by Comrade Patrick Adewumi noted that ‘our political strategy and advocacy is to secure 500,000 votes for each of the APC candidates in the upcoming elections’.

Members of the group which is the umbrella body of notable political stakeholders, former party officials and former office-holders, who decamped to the APC from various political parties, made this resolution during its state congress on Wednesday, 8th February, 2023.

The Congress which was held at the state secretariat of the organization, opposite International Airport, Egbejila junction, Ilorin, came up with the following resolutions:

‘That all our members across the 193 wards in Kwara State shall be properly mobilized and empowered with logistics to actively canvass for His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all other candidates of APC at various levels in the forthcoming elections.

That we shall through our own marginal efforts aim at garnering a minimum of 500,000 votes for all APC candidates through the efforts of our members across the 193 wards.

That we shall rigorously embark on ‘win your street’ advocacy among our members as our canvassing tool for achieving our targeted number of votes.

That we shall conscientize and mobilize various religious leaders and take our canvassing message to various mosques and churches.

That our targeted categories of voters shall majorly include the newly registered voters (mostly young people who recently attained age 18 after the last election), the undecided voters (elites and others who are either not interested in voting or do not know who to vote for) and registered voters in newly established settlements.

That as we go about our canvassing for our party and candidates at our various wards, streets and polling units, voter education will also be incorporated into our programmes to minimize the number of potentially- voided votes which was experienced in the past elections due to inadequate education of voters on how to vote properly.

We also want to use this medium to congratulate our Grand patron, His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Director General, Kwara state APC Campaign Council, Ambassador Fatai Yahaya Seriki on the successful inauguration of the Kwara State APC Campaign Council. We pledge our unalloyed support and active participation in the election to ensure victory for all APC candidates.

In conclusion, we urge all registered voters to come out in large numbers to exercise their voting rights on the election day and avoid the palpable voters apathy which characterized the elections held in the country in the recent past.

We assure our candidates from the presidential to the State Assembly that we would not leave any stone unturned to ensure an incontestable victory for all of them in the coming 2023 elections’ the group submitted
