CBN Deceived Buhari Over Naira Redesign – Oshiomhole

,,,,Adams Oshiomhole has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari was misled by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over the layout of the naira notes.

The N1,000, N500, and N200 notes were redesigned, and President Buhari approved them last year.

Nigerians, meanwhile, are struggling to get their hands on the new notes as the deadline for the currency swap, February 10th, draws nearer. Following the naira swap issue, the CBN insisted that it wouldn’t postpone the deadline.

Oshiomhole, however, has criticized the strategy, calling it absurd and an attempt by the apex bank to sabotage the 2018 elections. He claims that the bank persuaded the President to endorse the program by selling him an anti-corruption justification.

,,,,,Since I was not present, I can only speculate that the CBN misled the President in order to obtain the approval by stressing the importance of having a free and fair election, as if that were the only project this President was in charge of, he said in an interview with Channels Television’s The 2023 Verdict on Sunday.
