Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, the governor of Ondo State, has praised his counterpart in Osun State, Governor Adegboyega Oyety for maintaining his composure in the face of numerous challenges, including socioeconomic realities, in managing the affairs of the State.

Akeredolu made this known on Thursday in Osogbo during the commissioning of the Olaiya flyover bridge.

He eulogiesed Oyetola for his landmark achievement in Four years, adding explaining that nobody in the history of the State can match Oyetola’s sterling record of good governance, according to Akeredolu, who pointed out how well he has done.

The governor of Ondo State also reaffirmed his faith in God, believing that Oyetola would soon reclaim his mandate.

In his speech, “I feel so comfortable, and I can see love when we all gather as southwest Governors to talk about our development,” Akeredolu said.

“I really view it as an honor to be asked to come here to open the flyover. Thank you for giving me this honor. As soon as I got the invitation, I said I’d be here. You have done tremendous things for our State.

“I mean that very much, and I’m wondering why a lot of pretty unusual things happened. You gave your time and sacrifices, but this will still take place. I am aware that occasionally we have to deal with unpredictable people.

“For those near to this State, you have done amazingly well. I can beat you on all the roads, hospitals, and plenty more. You have shown that with few resources, you still cared for your people.

“No one will surpass your record. Be aware that no one can surpass your achievement as we fight to regain this mandate.

“We are aware of the endless number of roads, primary healthcare facilities, and security measures you have implemented. Well, Just give yourself a pat on the back; you did good.

“Not only have you performed admirably here, but you are also a solid ally among our Governors. You keep your mouth shut, and when you make a decision, Gboyega is a great ally.

“You won’t be forgotten by Osun State forever. By God’s grace, we’ll make it back. God is aware of his methods. We will return to lead this State for a second term by the grace of God.

“Once again, thank you for the invitation. There are many people who can do it, therefore calling me to come here is not a right; rather, I consider it to be a wonderful honor,” Akeredolu said.

In his brief remarks, Governor Oyetola expressed his gratitude to Governor Akeredolu for agreeing to launch the state’s iconic flyover.

Oyetola, who credited his administration’s unique approach to governance for the project’s success, claimed that in spite of the state of the nation’s socioeconomic situation, his administration was committed to giving the state’s residents the greatest infrastructure possible.

No promises made by the previous administration prevented Governor Oyetola from serving a second term in office, he said, adding that he had no regrets about coming to serve the State.

“Let me formally welcome to Osun my brother, in whom I take much pleasure. It gives me great honor to see my brother here today. We feel quite honored to be here. He is our Commander, and he has skillfully managed the affairs.

“I’m especially glad you came here. To serve is what matters. You have been given the opportunity to serve, whether you like it or not. Although the limited resources at our disposal do not constrain us, we choose to use an alternative project funding approach.

“I arrived to serve with no regrets. Due to our creativity and the fact that we are from the private sector, which helped us, we can see how we can innovate the system.

“People questioned us when we claimed we intended to build the flyover, which was finished in less than a year, but I can now see that the skeptics were the ones to use the road and the flyover first.

“In an effort to honor our colleagues, I have also asked Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the recently-retired governor of Ekiti State, to open a number of routes. Every governor in the Southwest has had great success.

Oyetola continued, “I have full confidence that I will regain my mandate; it is a covenant from Almighty God and it will be fulfilled”, Oyetola confidently explained.
