South Africans Begin Another Xenophobic Attack on Foreigners
….The attack against foreign nationals by south africans has been a ticking timebomb ignored by the government.
Documented or not, the number of Africans living within South African borders has to be carefully managed because of the pressure on the resources.
In the absence of a government, people shall rise and govern themselves.
,,,,,Mangosuthu Buthelezi raised the issue of illegal immigration when he was Home Affairs Minister but he was ignored.
The masses raised their concerns time and again, but their grievances fell on dead ears.
After what happened during the xenophobic attacks a few years ago, the government should have handled the situation.
…..As things stand, locals have resorted to violence and foreign nationals are fighting back. It is happening now.
Yesterday, community members of Alexander formed a group called The Alex Dudula Movement (similar to Operation Dudula), and they have been shutting down foreign-owned stores.
This has left foreign nationals to fight back as they refuse to leave the country, and the situation has turned bad ss both groups are attacking each other, tyres burning in the streets, and locals shutting down the whole township for five days.
,,,,,,,According to several reports, there is currently a heavy police officer presence in the area to help monitor the situation.
Members of taxi associations are trying to put out the fire, but more tyres are being set alight in other locations.
….The masses are blaming the government, and they say that nothing will change until borders are strengthened.
Some are furious at the police for not doing anything about the situation but only avail themselves when locals turn violent.
,,,,Many of the locals are demanding documentation from illegal immigrants, and mostly attacking those who have no permit to be in the country.
,,,,,,The question is, is it the duty of the vigilante group to demand documentation from foreigners? The worst part is that South Africa is big.
When foreigners are chased away from one city, they go to another as they blatantly refuse to leave the country.
Only the government can chase them away, not angry locals.
,,,,Does this then mean that there must be Operation Dudula movements in all provinces, in all cities? Perhaps a peaceful protest should be taken to the department of home affairs, defense, police, and labour, or else this will result in unnecessary tensions that lead to bloodshed
