Man bags six months jail term in Osun for stealing rice

Ile-Ife, Osun State Magistrates’ Court Sentenced 29-Year-Old One ThankGod Paul to Six Months in Jail for Stealing Food Items Worth $ 4,560 NOT.

Paul was arraigned on Monday December 6 2021 on three counts bordering on breaking and entering and theft in front of O. Adediwura.

Police attorney Inspector Onah Glory told court that Paul broke into the store of a certain Sola Adeyanju on December 5, 2021 in Alaro Area, Modakeke-Ife with intent to commit a felony .

Glory also added that the convict stole a dried rubber of rice costing 1000 N; two Biggie Cola, worth 300 N; two 7up drinks worth N400; one Spaghetti, N400 and five Magic soaps, N500

According to him, the convict stole two packages of instant noodles, N200; a pack of Rothmas cigarettes, N500; a pack of Benson & Hedges, N500 and an Agbara & Halogin hot drink, N400.

The prosecutor said the accused took away a Chinchin mug, valued at N 60 and a bundle of Tiger Razor blade, valued at N 300, all property valued at N 4560. added that the offense violated sections 319 and 413 of the Criminal Code, Osun Laws, 2002.


Paul, however, pleaded guilty to the charges against him and pleaded for leniency.
In his decision, Adediwura, after convicting the accused, sentenced him to six months in prison with an option of one year of community service.
