Man who raped goat to death faces 20 years in prison

A 60-year-old man in Malaysia faces 20 years in prison or flogging if convicted of having sex with a goat.

Shaari Hasan was accused of having sexual intercourse with the animal on July 27.
The man was discovered by the owner of the goat after hearing her make strange sounds.
Going to check on the animal, she saw the man next to the goat, half naked.

The man fled and the goat was found dead.

The owner filed a complaint with the police and the carcass was sent to a veterinary service for an autopsy.
The accused widower was allegedly caught behind a house in the village of Kampung Sungai Buaya in Rawang, around 1:30 p.m.

He first pleaded guilty when the charge, under section 377 of the Malaysian Penal Code, was first read by Judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza.

But after receiving evidence that was allegedly taken from him during his arrest, a green T-shirt and brown pants, Hasan denied that the items belonged to him.

The judge said that not admitting the evidence made his guilty plea unacceptable and when the charge was read back to him, Hasan pleaded not guilty.

Deputy prosecutor Siti Khadijah Amir Hamdzah opposed bail for the offense.
However, Hasan’s lawyer Zolazrai Zolkapli said the offense is liable to bail, therefore his client should be released depending on the outcome of the trial.
Bail was denied by the judge and Hasan will return to court for mention on December 24.
