Tragedy as another tanker explodes in Ibadan
Two vehicles were set on fire following a fire in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state.
The fire occurred when an oil tanker reportedly caught fire on Thursday evening in the Agodi Gate area in Ibadan, a few meters from the Ibadan zonal office of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Sources revealed that the tanker that was loaded with Premium Motor Spirit fell and caught fire.
It was established that some vehicles parked in the area caught fire when the tanker caught fire.
Oyo State Fire Department Operations Director Mr. Ismail Adeleke confirmed the incident.
He said his men were able to put out the blaze around 11 p.m. Thursday.
He added that the vehicle lost control and fell, dumping its contents on the road. He explained that two cars were destroyed.
However, he said no life was lost in the incident. The fire started in the engine compartment of the tanker and the driver, seeing the burning fire, panicked and jumped out of the moving truck.
“The vehicle lost control and fell, dumping its contents on the road and a fire raged along the way. Two cars were destroyed but no life was lost in hell, ”he said.
