ASUU gives FG ultimatum for persistent demands
The University Academic Staff Union on Monday 15 November 2021 issued a three-week ultimatum to the federal government for non-compliance with persistent demands.
It comes as the Association of Senior Staff of Universities and the Union of Non-University Staff of Universities met today to deliberate on the next steps to be taken regarding the federal government’s failure to respond to the union’s demands.
According to a report, the federal government signed a memorandum of understanding with unions last year and promised to respond to demands ranging from payment of earned allowances, to the introduction of the UTAS platform for university workers. , payment of the revitalization fund for universities, among others.
Speaking at the University of Abuja on Monday, the Union’s national president, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, lamented the failure of the federal government to meet the needs of the Union, which left him no choice .
“We give the federal government a three week ultimatum, if after three weeks it does not respond to our demands, we will go on strike.
