Over 50,000 Security Agents Deploy For Anambra Guber Poll
Over 50,000 security agents, comprising police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the army have been deployed in Anambra State to ensure the smooth conduct of the ongoing governorship election in the state.
Given the apprehension that surrounded the election and the now cancelled sit-at-home order imposed by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, the police said it had deployed 34,587 personnel while the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps deployed 20,000 personnel. The number of soldiers deployed by the army was however not disclosed.
The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Audi, said that the deployment was to forestall attacks on voters and ensure a hitch-free electoral process.
