AnambraDecides: INEC extends voting Sunday
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed the Anambra state gubernatorial election until Sunday, November 7, 2021.
This was done to give those who were unable to vote on Saturday the result of a malfunction by the voter identification machine (BIVAS).
The device failed to operate in several units.
Speaking to newsmen at the INEC office in Awka, the State Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, said the closing of the polls was postponed from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, from Elections will resume on Sunday, November 7. 2021 in units where no elections can be held.
He said the engines had a problem with the software, adding that the agency’s engineers were trying to fix the problem.
He added that supplies did not arrive on time at some polling stations because some drivers and temporary staff could not come out.
