Update on Unilorin student allegedly raped, found dead in room

A 300 level student of the University of Ilorin, OLAJIDE OMOWUMI BLESSING, has been reportedly raped and murdered in her residence at Tanke area, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The deceased, who was staying with her elder sister until her death on Tuesday, was a student of Agricultural Science Department and hailed from Oke-Opin community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, AJAYI OKASANMI, who confirmed the dastardly incident, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in the state, MOHAMMED BAGEGA, has directed immediate investigation and arrest of the attackers, while Honorable GANIYU ABOLARIN, representing Ekiti State constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, decried the growing insecurity in the state and demanded the immediate investigation, apprehension and prosecution of the culprits.

Meanwhile, Governor ABDULRAHMAN ABDULRAZAQ has described as shocking and utterly condemnable the reported rape and murder of Miss Olajide Omowumi Blessing of the University of Ilorin by some yet-to-be-identified persons.

The Governor commiserated with the parents of the deceased, her course/ housemates, and the university community on this sad incident, and prayed to the Almighty God to repose her soul. He assured of his help to the security agencies to get the perpetrators.
