“Any Attempt To Reverse The Policy Of Wearing Hijab In Osun Public Schools Will Create Enmity” – Muslim Parents Caution Govt

Acting on the recent news on the ongoing implementation of the education policy review in the State, the Osun State chapter of Muslim Parents and Guardians Association, has called on Governor Gboyega Oyetola to be careful with reversing the existing hijab policy in public schools of the state.

The leadership of the association explained affirmatively that any attempt to reverse the policy by the Oyetola led administration will lead to acrimony between the Osun government and the Muslim community.

According to the Chairperson of the association, Mrs. Kareem Abeebat, who is a mother of three children attending public school, “there is a rumour flying around that Governor Oyetola is planning to review hijab policy in Osun.”

She further explained that, if the governor should bow to pressure from suspected anti-hijab forces in the state, they (Muslim Parents and Guardians) will not hesitate to confront him with legal approach.

“The use of hijab for Muslim pupils in the state is constitutional and has the legal backup” warning that nobody should attempt to infringe on the right of Muslim students.

“All public schools across the state are owned by government, actives of the schools should only be regulated by government polices not external forces” she said.

She, however, urged Muslims in the state to keep cooperating with Osun government and exercise their duties as provided by the constitution.

Recall that the OSUNREPORTERS NEWS had reported that the Osun state government recently reviewed the education policy of the state which returned all government owned schools across the state to their former names while implementation of the revered policy are currently ongoing across the state.
