Osun Senator Allegedly Organized N2.5m Training For Constituents Instead Of N40m Allocated

A community of active citizens tracking the implementation of government projects in various communities across Nigeria to ensure service delivery, known as #TrackNG, has drawn the attention of the Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District at the 9th Senate, Senator Adelere Oriolowo and the people of Osun West to the amount spent on the just concluded training as part of the Osun West Constituency project approved by the 9th Senate in the year 2020 budget.

Faulting the claims by the Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Adelere Oriolowo, on the amount spent for his 2020 constituency projects, the group on Wednesday, alleged in one of its tweets #Track NG that Oriolowo got N40m allocation for a training programme but ended up spending N2.5m.

“N40m was allocated in the 2020 Federal Government Zonal Intervention Programme for practical skill development and training of youths and women in fishing in selected areas in Osun West Senatorial District, Osun State.

“We confirmed (that) 50 participants selected across 10 Local Government Areas, attended the training and received N50,000 (each) as start-up grant,” the tweet said.

Recalled that OSUNREPORTERS NEWS had on June 13th this year reported the details of the approved constituency projects for the three senatorial districts of Osun State where Osun west got N220 million while N40 million were segmented for practical skill and development training of youths and women in fishing in selected areas within Osun West Senatorial District

As one of the characteristics of #TrackNG which usually monitor the approved and ongoing projects of the government, has again commenced the tracking of 2020 constituency projects.

#TrackaNG is a project of BudgITng which enables citizens to collaborate, track and give feedback on projects in their community.
