Oyetola inaugurates Commissioner for Osun Judicial Service Commission
The Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Friday inaugurated Mr. Adebayo Waliu Salimon as the new Commissioner for the state’s Judicial Service Commission.
The Governor charged the new appointee to discharge his duties with utmost sincerity, fear of God and work towards the protection of the sanctity of the judicial system.
Salimon succeeded Mr. Nathaniel Agunbiade who occupied the position until his recent appointment as the Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning in the State.
Inaugurating the new Commissioner at the EXCO Lounge, Oyetola said the appointment was crucial as the Commission remains an indispensable organ of the Judiciary in the State which oversees the processes of appointment and discipline of officers presiding over the State courts.
Oyetola noted that the role of the Commission has become expedient as a result of the need to maintain the integrity of the courts and ensure the smooth dispensation of justice in the State.
“The process of selecting and appointing members of the Commission is necessarily a thorough and painstaking one, which is aimed at producing the best of the best amongst us.
“Undoubtedly, the need to maintain the integrity of the courts and ensure the smooth dispensation of justice in the State makes such thoroughness absolutely expedient.
“I am convinced that the appointee of today, Mr. Adebayo Waliu Salimon, is someone who enjoys the confidence and recommendation of all the stakeholders in the Justice Sector in the State.
“Salimon is coming on board at a time when our State still remains the most peaceful in Nigeria and a period when the three arms of government in the State are enjoying peaceful coexistence without compromising their exclusive roles,” the Governor added.
In his welcome remarks, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Femi Akande, commended the administration of Governor Oyetola for being committed to the promotion of the justice sector and the enthronement of the rule of law in the State.
He also lauded the administration for its resolve to ensure that the wheel of justice administration is well oiled throughout the tenure as manifested in the appointment of the new judicial commissioner.
Describing the appointment as a round peg in a round hole, Akande urged the appointee to justify the confidence reposed in him by the government and the people of the State.
Akande also urged the appointee to remain diligent, honest and fair in the discharge of his duties.
In his acceptance remark, Adebayo Waliyu Salman thanked the Governor for giving him the opportunity to serve the State in that capacity. He described the appointment as the Lord’s doing.
He maintained that the appointment would give him the opportunity to learn under the Chief Judge, pledging his readiness to utilise the knowledge gained for better service to the judicial system.
Also present at the occasion were the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo; the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji; the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Charles Akinola; Deputy Chief of Staff, Prince Abdullahi Binuyo; the Head of Service, Dr. Festus Oyebade; members of the State cabinet; and members of the State Judicial Service Commission.
