OSUN LG POLLS: Test Your Popularity, Owoeye Tells Opposition Parties
Charging the opposition parties in the state to participate in the forthcoming local government elections if truly they are popular, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Timothy Owoeye openly challenged the opposition parties to test their popularity.
Owoeye made this assertion at the floor of the House while screening the nominees of Mr governor for Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC).
According to him, “Democracy is all about inclusion either in ruling party or opposition, hence, the opposition parties must come out to participate.
The current most experienced Parliamentarian in the State 7th Assembly added, “Nigeria is heading towards electronic voting which will make it impossible for voter intimidation and suppression. You can rule longer if you do the wishes of the people, if you refuse, they vote you out.
“Gradually, a day will come where it will be impossible for a ruling party to influence LG elections in Nigeria and that is why we politicians must do the will of the people.”
The speaker urged politicians to allow OSIEC to do their job as electoral umpire without any interference from any side.
