After his arrest and trial over false alarm about the State Government of Osun on Covid-19, Governor Gboyega Oyetola has directed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Femi Akande, and Ministry of Justice to discontinue with the trial of a Facebook user, Zirhid Akinloye, OSUNREPORTERS gathered.

Zirhid is facing four count-charge, bordering on peddling of falsehood on the social media against the government.

According to a source, after the People Democratic Party social media analyst exhibited remorse and the need for him not to be detained for the period of the next round of lockdown, Governor Oyetola ordered his release, while the state government has decided to stop the trial with immediate effect.

The source further revealed that Zirhid will be released anytime before the commencement of the next round of the lockdown after serious warning against his action to note that there are federal and state laws against spreading of false information, coupled with the recently-signed Osun Covid-19 Regulations 2020 which forbids peddling of falsehood on the virus both on social media and other means of communication about the global pandemic.
