Osun Assembly Passes Àmòtékùn Bill Into Law
The Osun State Security Network Agency known as Amotekun bill has being passed into law on 3rd of March, 2020 at the Assembly’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye.
While speaking at the plenary, Speaker Owoeye expressed happiness at the eventual passage of the bill saying the bill focused on safety of the people of Southwest and the development of the region.
According to him, “I am happy this bill has been passed, I thank and salute my colleague for their patriotism and commitment to the development of our State.
“I equally thank the South West Governor’s forum and the South West Speakers Conference for putting together this bill that focusses on the safety of our people and the development of our region,” Owoeye added.
Recall that the Assembly held a public hearing on the bill on Monday 24th of February, 2020 where relevant stakeholders discussed the bill and disclosed their reservations and recommendations, following increased killings of farmers, banditry, highway robbery and kidnapping witnessed in the South West region and Nigeria by extension.
