As recognized by the Guinness World Book of Records, former President of the Forum for Democratic Change party, Kizza Besigye, has been identified as the most arrested man in the world.
He marked himself in the world book of records on Monday, 20th January 2020, when he was arrested for the 50th time in Uganda.
This recent arrest saw him detained at Nalufenya Police Station as he was supposed to address party loyalists at Bugembe Stadium.
According to the report, things didn’t go as planned and saw him and his team engage in running battles with police officers from Jinja Police Station, Bugembe Police Station and Kakira Police Stations. It got even worse for the opposition leader when soldiers from Gadaffi Army Barracks were deployed.
Police reportedly fired teargas at Dr Besigye supporters after a public address system he was supposed to use inside the stadium, was allegedly dismantled by police.
Besigye’s arrest has now cemented his legacy in the world book of records for having the highest number of arrests in the world. 30% of his arrests alone came in 2016 when he got arrested more than 15 times during Uganda’s general elections.
