9th Senate: ODAG felicitates with Osun Central Senator, Ajibola Basiru, reminds him of Steel Rolling, Machine Tools, IDC, others

On behalf of the entire members, the leadership of Osogbo Development Action Group (ODAG) has rejoiced with the newly sworn-in Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Dr. Ajibola Basiru as he joined other 108 senators at the 9th assembly to legislate in the interest of Osun State and Nigeria at large.

In a statement signed by the Coordinator, Onibonokuta Abdullah and two others on Wednesday, describing his emergence as a product of dedication and unprecedented style of his leadership.

According to the statement “We at the Osogbo Development Action Group (ODAG), wish to extend our felicitations to our brother, Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Ajibola Basiru on your inauguration as Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial district at the 9th National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

To us, your election into the Red Chamber of the National Assembly is not by accident, but rather a product of your passion, dedication, rich, enviable and unprecedented style of leadership. It is our hope that you will not relent in all the deeds that have earned you this landmark achievement.

“As a Politician, you have always distinguished yourself as someone with a clear vision and ability to get things done in a most unique and creditable manner. We, therefore, have no iota of doubt that your rich experience in the legal practice, your experience as a successful Politician, as well as a philanthropist will not only be of immense help in legislating, sponsoring and supporting bills that will transform the lives of Nigerians, especially that of your immediate Senatorial district, for better.”

ODAG also charged the Osogbo born Legal icon, SRJ on the need to work on how to resuscitate some abandoned federal government projects within his constituency.

“Permit us to quickly mention some of the projects that require your immediate and quick intervention in your constituency. Worthy of note are the facts that the Nigeria Steel Rolling (Dangote Steels) that stands on our sizable hectares of land has become a mere warehouse in the face of neglect; whereas, its eventual privatization to Dangote groups of company has not proved corrective either. The Nigerian Machine Tools seems not adding any economic value to the society while Industrial Development Center (IDC) potential is grossly being underutilized. Worthy of mention, also, is that the ongoing Federal Secretariat’s Complex has not seen the light of the day since almost ten years of its conception. All of these demand your distinguished interventions.

“While we believe in your intellectual prioress and political sagacity to get them addressed as matter that demand urgent attentions, we charge you to use all mercenaries within reach to revive the aforementioned estates and bring them back to operations as soon as possible as they will not only revitalize economy of the state, their revivals will also translate to economic growth of the Country at large. The multiplier effects will be awesome. These, we believe, are tasks you will be proud and willing to do at all times.”

The youth based organization in the interest of Osogboland, ODAG also pray for the successful tenure of office and congratulate the people of Osogbo, Osun Central Senatorial District and Nigeria.

“We pray God Almighty to grant you, Senator Ajibola Basiru, all that it requires to succeed in this new political journey.
