,,,,,The All Progressive Congress (APC) has announced Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom state, as the party’s consensus candidate for the next senate president of Nigeria.

The decision to zone the position to the south-south region of the country was made during a meeting of APC leaders. Outgoing governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, confirmed this in a video shared on the internet.

In the video, Ganduje expressed confidence in Akpabio’s candidacy, referring to him as the “uncommon governor, minister, waiting to be the uncommon president of the senate.”

It was previously reported that President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was against zoning for the senate presidency, but it appears that the party has now resolved this issue.
